Do you provide information for foreigners visiting the museum?

A "Guide in English" may be borrowed free of charge at the sales desk and contains information in English about all the different sections and topics. We also offer guided tours in English subject to prior booking.

Do you have special offers for children?

A special museum trail for children covering the entire museum is available free of charge at the sales desk. There is also a harbour game, a hands-on area about the Middle Ages, as well as audio books and films to make the visit lively and entertaining for children.

Is the museum wheelchair-friendly?

The exhibition is on two floors. There is a lift to the top floor. There is also a ramp for wheelchairs next to the stairs.

When do guided tours take place?

Are there any demonstrations in the museum?

The steam engine and refrigerating machine are started up when enough visitors are interested. Films are shown at the Museum Cinema at set times. Click here for the film programme.

There is also a lot of other media in the museum that visitors can start up themselves at the press of a button.

How can I find my way round the museum?

A plan of the museum and the location of exhibits is available free of charge in the museum or can be sent to you upon request.

How do I get to the museum by public transport?

Buses 505 and 506 stop very near to the museum. Ask the driver for the stop "Historisches Museum".

How can I find out about ancestors who emigrated?

There are two terminals in the Historisches Museum Bremerhaven which allow you to access the German Emigrants Database. You can search for emigrants free of charge here. There is a charge for printing out the results of your search. Please ask at the till or a member of the museum staff. Click here for more information about the German Emigrants Database.

Where can I park?

There is a coach and car park in front of the museum. The parking fee will be refunded at the sales desk.
