A "Guide in English" may be borrowed free of charge at the sales desk and contains information in English about all the different sections and topics. We also offer guided tours in English subject to prior booking.
A special museum trail for children covering the entire museum is available free of charge at the sales desk. There is also a harbour game, a hands-on area about the Middle Ages, as well as audio books and films to make the visit lively and entertaining for children.
During the school holidays we offer a special programme of events for children. If you are planning to bring a school class or want to have a birthday party in the museum, click here.
The exhibition is on two floors. There is a lift to the top floor. There is also a ramp for wheelchairs next to the stairs.
The steam engine and refrigerating machine are started up when enough visitors are interested. Films are shown at the Museum Cinema at set times. Click here for the film programme.
There is also a lot of other media in the museum that visitors can start up themselves at the press of a button.
A plan of the museum and the location of exhibits is available free of charge in the museum or can be sent to you upon request.
Buses 505 and 506 stop very near to the museum. Ask the driver for the stop "Historisches Museum".
There are two terminals in the Historisches Museum Bremerhaven which allow you to access the German Emigrants Database. You can search for emigrants free of charge here. There is a coach and car park in front of the museum. The parking fee will be refunded at the sales desk.
