The "GERA" is a unique type of museum ship. Not only is it the last surviving example of the legendary side trawler, the "GERA" is also the only floating museum of deep-sea fishing in Germany and shows very clearly and authentically what life aboard a deep-sea fishing vessel was like for the fishermen at the time.
The "GERA" is all set to go off fishing. The trawler is over 65 metres long and fully equipped, complete with trawl nets on the landing deck, saucepans in the galley and even the captain's uniform in his cabin. And the enormous diesel engine, a fine example of father-and-son technology, is still fully functioning...
